Pam, the Author!

From a Dream to Reality!

As far back as Pam can remember she wanted to be a writer. In her early years, she remembers lying across her paternal grandmother’s bed and telling her, “I want to be a writer because that way I can tell more people about Jesus”. To prepare herself, throughout grade school Pam read as many biographies, autobiographies, and other books as she could find time to read, along with keeping up her homework. She also wrote a lot of poetry during her elementary years.

In high school Pam worked on the annual staff, serving as co-editor her senior year. She also worked as a typist for the school’s newspaper. Pam graduated from Fairview High School, Ashland, KY in 1978 as Co-Salutatorian, and then headed for college. As an undergraduate Pam majored in Journalism, with an emphasis in public relations. During her undergraduate years she served as Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper at Ashland Community College, Ashland, KY, where she received an Associate of the Arts degree in 1980. Pam also wrote for the school newspaper at Marshall University, Huntington, WV, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree May 1986. She received minors in English, Psychology, and Political Science. After over 10 years of being in the workforce, Pam started graduate school at Trevecca Nazarene University in 1999, where she took courses in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program while working full time. In 2000 Pam quit her full time position to attend graduate school full time at Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, where she received an M.A. degree in 2003 and an Ed.S. degree in 2009. Both of Pam’s degrees from MSU are in the field of Adult and Higher Education, Counseling Specialization. In 2010 Pam received an Advanced Diploma in Biblical Counseling from Light University, Forest, VA. She also is certified with the Institute of Children’s Literature, West Redding, CT.

To complement Pam’s educational background that prepared her for being an author, she has worked at the Boyd County Public Library, Ashland, KY, as a Clerk Typist at the Circulation Desk and as a Children’s Librarian; King’s Daughter’s Hospital, Ashland, KY, as a Public Relations Assistant; Harris Publishing Company, Nashville, TN, as a Telephone Sales Representative; and at Thomas Nelson Christian Publishers, Nashville, TN, in the Inside Sales and Customer Service Departments.
